Owens Corning Roofing Warranty FAQs

The information needed to register a warranty includes the installation date, shingle type, shingle color, and number of squares.

To register your warranty, click on the “Register a Warranty” link or call 1-800-ROOFING for assistance.

Warranties can be transferred to a second owner as long as the transfer occurs within 60 days of the real estate transaction.

You can transfer your warranty by clicking the “Transfer a Warranty” link or calling 1-800-ROOFING. Be prepared to provide documentation, including proof of purchase, proof of ownership, and a transfer fee based on the year your roof was installed.

You can file your claim online by clicking the “File a Claim” link.

Having your roof installed by an Owens Corning Platinum or Preferred Contractor can impact your warranty coverage.

For standard product limited warranties, any contractor can install the shingles as long as proper installation instructions and local building codes are followed.

For extended warranty protection, installation must be completed by an Owens Corning Platinum or Preferred Contractor.

For single-family detached homes, a Limited Lifetime warranty provides coverage for manufacturing defects for as long as you own your home.

Coverage periods may differ for non-single-family or commercial properties.

Owens Corning Roofing Platinum and Preferred Contractors are the only roofing professionals authorized to provide an extended warranty.

To qualify for an extended warranty, your roofing system must meet specific product requirements:

  • Total Protection Roofing System (TPRS) Warranties: Hip & Ridge shingles plus two additional accessories
  • Platinum Protection / Preferred Protection Warranties: Hip & Ridge shingles plus three additional accessories
  • Exception: If your roof uses Supreme shingles, Owens Corning Hip & Ridge is not required as long as the total number of required accessories is met

Each warranty includes a TRU PROtection® Period during the initial years, where coverage includes labor costs to repair or replace defective materials.
